The BEST Latke Recipe (with La’Bayit Products!)

By La'Bayit Staff

For Chanuka this year, we bring to you the BEST latke recipe ever (seriously), made with La’Bayit products from our wedding registry in Israel!

We made our favorite childhood recipe, based on the book Malke’s Secret Recipe by David A. Adler, and had a ton of fun doing it. Which just serves to remind us that when you receive your gifts from your registry, they aren’t just objects but the items that will facilitate special and memorable moments in your home.

Malke’s Secret Latke Recipe

5 potatoes, you can peel or leave the peels on
6 scallions
3 tbsp. flour
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt, more to taste
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. parsley flakes
Canola oil for frying

Instructions:

Clean the potatoes and grate them in the food processor. Put grated potatoes in a large paper towel lined bowl. Squeeze to remove excess liquid. Use the knife blade in the food processor to chop the scallions. Add the rest of the ingredients to the bowl with the potatoes and mix well. Heat oil in large skillet. Carefully use your hands to place about 1/4 cup of the mixture into the frying pan. If there is lots of liquid, gently squeeze it out with your hands. When brown to your liking, flip until browned on the other side. Drain on paper towels and serve immediately with applesauce or sour cream. *Adapted from “Malke’s Secret Recipe – A Chanukah Story” written by David A. Adler.
