10 Tips to Motivate Guests to Buy Gifts from Your Registry

By La'Bayit Staff

There’s nothing like receiving gifts (especially if it’s your love language!). But what about receiving gifts that you and your other half have hand-selected together? Planning a wedding can be stressful enough, but receiving gifts shouldn’t be! Building a wedding registry and sending it out is the best way to ensure your home will be filled with gifts that you know you’re going to love & enjoy while building the foundations of your married lives together post-chuppah.

1. Start Early

Give your guests ample time to purchase a gift! Once you’re engaged and can start planning, it’s best to start your registry ASAP. Many people will be so overjoyed for you and want to share in your simcha, that they’ll start asking for your registry once you’ve announced your engagement. It’s such an exciting time!

2. Create a spectacular registry

Not sure where or how to start? Checkout our ‘Wedding Registry Checklist’ & use that as a springboard to see what you & your fiance need versus what you want: ask for everything you want & don’t be afraid to dream big!

Establish your style & choose items that reflect the atmosphere that you’d like to create in your soon-to-be home. Think beyond your current lifestyle! Keep in mind the type of table you envision for Shabbat, Yomim Tovim & weeknight meals as your family & community grows.

3. Get Help

Not sure on the differences between ceramic dinnerware versus stoneware dinnerware? Speak to our team on the various products in different categories if you aren’t sure or want further clarification. We can steer you in the right direction to make your (La’)Bayit Neeman B’Yisrael a reality!

4. Share the link

Include registry information on your:

  • Save-the-date cards
  • L’Chaim and/or Vort invitations
  • Wedding website
  • Wedding invitations

You can find your registry link provided to you in “My Registry Link” in the “Manage Registry” section or search for your registry by clicking “Registry” on the top of the page, and sharing the link of your registry from there.

5. Say it with clarity

Considering adding one of the following statements below by the link to your registry on the invitation to politely but clearly asking friends & friends to purchase from your registry:

“Please consider showering the couple-to-be from their thoughtfully curated registry”

“The couple-to-be will be starting off heir shana rishona in Israel & would love to build their home with gifts from their registry.

6. Include price variety

Make sure there are plenty of items in all sorts of price ranges from low, to medium & high. It allows every guest to feel included regardless of their budget.

7. Utilize Group Gifting

Our group gifting feature is perfect for those higher priced point items. A Kitchen Aid split amongst several guests is suddenly extremely affordable!

If your gift does not reach its goal, you can choose to contribute the rest of the cost of the item yourself, or receive store credit to be used for other La’Bayit gifts. If you would like to purchase the group gift and you have store credit remaining in your account, your store credit will be applied to cover the remaining part of the group gift.

8. Review your Registry on our Gifts Tracker

Your Gifts Tracker will display a list of each gift that was purchased for you and the awesome guest who purchased it. You will also receive an email notification each time an item is purchased.

You will be prompted to let us know whether you would like a gift to be sent right away (by clicking Send Now), if you would like to hold off on sending it, or if you would like to convert it to store credit. If you click “Send Now”, the business who sells that product through La’Bayit will be notified and the gift will be on its way!

9. Keep your Registry Active

You can keep your registry active as long as you’d like! You can even send out the link again if you decide to send out the wedding video or photo gallery.

10. Make sure to say thank you!

Your family & friends have the best of intentions with any gifts that they decide to give. Showing them your genuine gratitude for whatever gift they sent – big or small is important! Of course the time surrounding your nuptials is hectic, if you fall behind, just make an effort to send a thank-you card as soon as you can using our digital thank you feature in the La’Bayit Gifts Tracker.
