How to Beat the Heat at Your Outdoor Israel Wedding

By La'Bayit Staff

Love it or hate it, there is no denying that summer in Israel can get HOT. It’s true, the weather can be beautiful, sunset it gorgeous, the days are long and there’s almost no chance of rain- and that’s probably why all of the top 5 wedding months are the summer months (#4 is May!) . But there is always the chance in sunny Israel that your meticulously planned outdoor chuppah will fall on a super hot and humid day… and your guests won’t be too happy about it.

Instead of bringing it all inside, consider these super cute ideas to turn the blazing sun at your Netanya or Herzliya beach side wedding into an asset!

1. Ices or ice cream

Whether it be an ice cream or ices station near the chuppah, a waiter going around with little ice cream cups, or just handing out popsicles as the chuppah begins, the ceremony will be so much fun with an extra burst of cool delicious flavor. Plus, everyone loves ice cream so this can only work out well!

2. Hand Fans

Looking for a classy way to beat the heat? Try some elegant hand fans for your guests to stay cool throughout the ceremony. You can place them on the seats before the chuppah begins along with the program as a cute and inexpensive giveaway.

3. Hats or caps

As long as it’s a casual Israeli-style wedding (aka people won’t care too much about hat hair), consider cute monogrammed baseball caps or funky beach hats! Guests will be kept in the shade and get a cute giveaway they’ll actually use when the wedding is over.

4. Paper parasols

If you want to give people ample shade and make for some cute and unique pics parasols is where it’s at.

5. Sunglasses

Order sunglasses with your names on it on the cheap and leave them at each guest’s seat before the ceremony. It will make for super cute pics, and keep people from straining their eyes from the sun in order to see the happy couple!

6. Water bottles

Keep monogrammed water bottles in big ice buckets for guests to grab in the way to their seats. Everyone will be happy to stay hydrated and cool throught the ceremony. PS don’t leave them on the seats for people to use because no one (I think) likes warm water!

Here’s a good example of personalized wedding water bottles.

7. Program Fans

Kill two birds with one stone and print your ceremony program on hand fans. You can easily DIY it by printing out the programs on big card stock and gluing them onto big popsicle sticks or skewers (shippudim) from your local Rami Levi supermarket.

8. Hydration Station

Set up a classy station nearby with lots of cold drinks and lemonade (or limonana). Guests can help themselves to funky fruity waters and you can even stick some water bottles, sodas and beers into ice buckets.

9. Flip Flops

Having a beach wedding? Lucky for you, providing flip flops for all your guests to walk with on the sand is actually not expensive at all. Hand out cute white flip flops on their way onto the beach, and make sure their shoes don’t get ruined for the meal and dancing inside. You can also splurge a bit if you want them monogrammed!
